Global Soil Partnership (GSP) Plenary Assembly

The Global Soil Partnership (GSP) Plenary Assembly, 3 June 2024, is where crucial decisions concerning the global soil agenda are taken. It is the main platform for Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) members and GSP partners to meet and exchange knowledge and expertise in sustainable soil management.

Sustainable soil management has important linkages to water resources, especially for agricultural purposes. Agenda points will include:

  • A presentation of the report on the Global Symposium on Soils and Water held in 2023.
  • The theme for World Soil Day 2025.
  • Establishing a sub-committee on soils under FAO's agriculture committee.
  • Normative tools and actions on sustainable soil management, including recarbonization of agricultural soils.

The Assembly will begin on 3 June 2024 at 9 CEST (at FAO headquarters and on Zoom) with an opening ceremony followed by a series of keynote addresses from global experts.

All plenary sessions will be simultaneously interpreted in the six FAO official languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
