The World Health Organization (WHO), in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and backed by the World Bank and other global entities, has unveiled the Global Framework for Action 2024–2030. This document outlines strategies to enhance water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), waste management and electricity services across health care facilities worldwide.

Aimed at creating resilient, high-quality health services, the Framework is designed to support the implementation of the recent UN General Assembly resolution on health care facilities.

This resolution emphasizes the need for sustainable and safe facilities, capable of withstanding the challenges posed by climate change.

The resolution is targeted at a wide range of stakeholders including health leaders, programme managers, policymakers and technical experts in WASH, waste management and energy sectors, as well as actors in gender equality, disability and social inclusion, and climate change mitigation.
