World Bank report: Water for Shared Prosperity

A new report from the World Bank explores the connection between water, economic growth, and shared prosperity.

Water a shared prosperity cover

Water for Shared Prosperity defines four interconnected building blocks of prosperity: health and education (human capital), jobs and income, peace and social cohesion (social capital), and the environment (natural capital).

The report outlines how water determines prosperity through three primary channels: as safe drinking water, as an essential input for various economic sectors, and as a critical support for ecosystems

Overall, the report highlights the global inequalities in water access and recommends pro-poor and inclusive interventions to improve water security and strengthen climate resilience while reducing poverty and boosting shared prosperity.
