World Water Week in Stockholm, 2023

World Water Week 2023, to be held on 20-24 August in Stockholm, Sweden, is the leading conference on global water issues, and was established in 1991.

The theme in 2023 is ‘Seeds of Change: Innovative Solutions for a Water-Wise World’. A diverse mix of participants from many professional backgrounds will gather to explore how water can be a powerful tool to address the climate crisis, global heating, biodiversity loss, poverty, and many other water-related challenges.

Promoting gender contextualization of the SDG 6 global indicators
Sunday 20, 09:00 - 10:30 CET
The UN-Water Integrated Monitoring Initiative for SDG 6 has developed and tested approaches and gender-relevant indicators for contextualizing and monitoring gender aspects related to the SDG 6 global indicators. These draft tools and results will be presented, along with the experiences gained from their pilot testing.

Leveraging Water for Peace
Sunday 20, 14:00 - 15:30 CET
This session will introduce the topic for next year's World Water Day and UN World Water Development Report: 'Leveraging Water for Peace'. The session will explore the topic in-depth and offer participants an opportunity to share their experiences and get involved in the World Water Day campaign. It will also give insight into the forthcoming UN World Water Development Report on the topic. 

Activating the innovation accelerator of the SDG6 Global Acceleration Framework
Sunday 20, 16:00 - 17:30 CET
Accelerating progress towards SDG 6 requires implementing innovations in our water governance, data and information, capacity development and financing. This session will allow UN-Water Members and Partners to highlight examples of different types of innovations, advance our common understanding and challenge ourselves to support the scaling up of innovative practices. 

Blueprint for change - SDG 6 Synthesis Report 2023
Wednesday 23, 09:00 - 10:30 CET
An interactive discussion to find synergies in the water community to accelerate implementation and to follow up on the recommendations made in the SDG 6 Synthesis Report 2023 for the second half of the 2030 Agenda.
